Interesting Devialet review, thank you. I had D-Premier for 2 years. Sold it due to sounding clinical, not engaging enough. Speakers were Quad esl 2912. This is the first Devialet review I read that seems to confirm my assessment that something just sounds unnatural with Devialet.

I have these same monoblocks. They are made in china, when shipped to North America they end up costing just under a thousand Canadian dollars. They are fantastic amps. Im running a pair of 70’s altec theatere amps and and they are a great match. But make it clear, they are not “altec amps”. But they are probably the best bang for buck hifi out there right now.

And also, the logical way to cook with music when looking for taste is to use a DSP. May still need some research to produce good DSP… If the market really want it.

We would like any recording to sound good, even a bad recording. That’s a problem 🙂

Anybody can mesure the transparency of hifi stuff at home. Nothing subjective. Takes time and work. Don’t nead big money to do it any more. Only a computer and a standardised room.

Anybody can edit a review on the web and share the work he did before. That’s the way Internet work. Sharing is free and can be done honestly.

Both can ruin a reputation for sure. So what ?

You have plenty of professional subjective review if that’s your preference. But it’s not. That’s a matter of fact.

Then,it appears that transparency is not the goal for every one. Some may want to improve the music to their taste. Like cooking… But that’s not hifi anymore.

In fact, what you can read on ASR is simple : Transparent hifi stuff is quite cheap nowadays. No nead to pay more as you won’t ear any difference.

How can you choose between A and B if everything sound tranparent ? No way !

Hifi business is dead. No need to be sorry. ASR is not gulty. Transparency is. You have looked for it and now you have it.

I owned the 280D for a while and loved it. Yes, adjusting the volume via a computer isn’t ideal. I would think you could fix that and get a big improvement for not a lot of money. There’s some really good tube linestages around for under $1000, I would expect that you’d appreciate the step up from using a computer, which generally reduces resolution as a means to reducing volume.
