Hey Dan, thanks for stopping by and saying hello. I think you are probably right in suggesting that I could have gotten more from the Impression 11a. I generally keep components around for much longer than I had these, and generally get to use them with a much broader mix of partnering equipment. It was just unfortunate that another pair of speakers that I’ve been looking out for appeared on the radar and I had to move these along more quickly than I would’ve liked, to make room.
I’ve already started thinking about taking a look around for a pair of the bigger 15a’s.

I think that probably you can make them sound better. You mentioned that they are sometimes too lean, analytical and lack some engagement. I recently tested them with an amplifier that made them dynamic monsters. They were really fun and they sounded amazing even with metal.
