These amps are very special. Not just a special performance but true eye-candy for the avid audiophile.

The Thor amps have been at the heart of many of our component reviews over the past months, regrettably, it’s time to start thinking about finding them a new home. These amps are real power-house performers and will drive most any sensibly rated speakers with ease.

If you google Thor amps, don’t confuse the smaller TPA 30 with these as they’re two very different animals. The TPA 60 are larger, heavier, and more solidly built. They have the raised bridge behind the power tubes with the chromed surface and the illuminated protective glass panels. the TPA 30 does not have this.

These amps are easily serviceable if anything should require it down the line. Most competent tube techs should be able to work on these amps, they are point to point wired.

Biasing is simple, no tools needed and it takes two minutes or less to adjust the bias on each amp. You can see the biasing method in the photos, each tube has a potentiometer and there’s a selector and LED readout. Bias holds well, I check them every few weeks and there’s rarely a need to adjust. A brand new set of Genalex Gold Lion KT77 tubes – PLATINUM Matched Quad tubes and NOS input tubes installed and ready for the new owner ($600). Amps run dead quiet, no hiss, pops, or anything untoward.
