Description

Best amps I’ve owned by a country mile. Selling because I’ve changed speakers and need more power.

Amps were upgraded by the original owner with Auricaps, which is a factory-recommended improvement to the sound quality of these amps. I have the old caps which I’ll send along.

These amps also include the factory installed “No Negative Feedback” switch, so you can switch in/out the NFB. Whether you prefer with/without NFB will largely depend on your speakers. Please note that this is a feature of later A-6000s and wasn’t installed on others that I’ve seen listed for sale recently. It’s an excellent feature and makes these amps even more versatile for speaker matching.

The amps are in very nice condition, with a few minor marks but nothing that detracts from the aesthetic appeal.

I damaged one of the acrylic tube towers. The acrylic is stock diameter so I purchased a new tube which needs to be cut to length and beveled. If you prefer you can buy a new one from Allnic. They’re inexpensive, I just haven’t gotten around to it since I don’t use the towers anyway.

The amps come with an almost new set of Gold Lion 300b tubes that are running at under 50 hours, so they’re not fully broken-in at the time of placing this ad. I also have 10 EML 300b XLS tubes that I can include for extra. One pair of these tubes is brand new, tested for a couple of hours. They were purchased from the Tube Store as backups. The cost with shipping was $1150 for the pair.  Another pair was purchased around January 10, 2022 from a reliable USAudiomart member who listed them as having had around 6 hours of use. I paid $850 for that pair with shipping and fees. The other 6 tubes tested strong prior to my purchasing these amps and should have good life left. Add $3500 to the price for the 10 EML XLS tubes. I won’t warranty the tubes, however, only the new pair which I’ve registered with EML have a warranty. I don’t have a tube-tester for power tubes. They do bias up just fine and sound glorious. Do your homework on Emission Labs tubes, they’re one of the best sounding tubes available, and were favored by the amp designer for the A-6000.

I have the original wooden shipping crates which are in excellent condition, but at this stage, I prefer not to ship. My home is inaccessible to 18-wheelers, so I can’t provide freight shipping without a lot of hassle. I’ll deliver them for a reasonable cost up to 250 miles from 23920, or meet within a reasonable distance, but they’ll need to be paid for in full upfront.

If you want these shipped then I will pack them in the wooden crates and move them to my carport ready for pickup. You will need to arrange all shipping and insurance and accept full responsibility for any shipping damage claims. I will not mount the crates to a pallet since that would require freight pickup usually by a large semi, and as I’ve already stated, my home isn’t accessible to such. The good news is that these can ship individually by UPS. Each amp weighs 88lbs, and the crates are 25lbs, so with the crates and packing materials it comes to around 120lbs, well under the 150lb weight limit for UPS. Each crate measures 26x24x20 and there are obviously 2 crates at this size. There will be a third box for the tubes, figure 20x20x20 and 15lbs to be on the safe side. You’ll need to work out everything yourself with the shipping company directly as I don’t have the time or inclination to get caught up in the middle of that, sorry. These are functionally perfect and are here for audition at my home. If you choose to have them shipped, then that’s on you. Any damage or malfunction will need to be dealt with between yourself and the shipping company. I will of course fully document everything before packing and attest to their functional condition to assist with any claim.

I will NOT accept PayPal. PayPal is an organization that facilitates scam artists and I won’t put myself at risk on a transaction of this type. I can accept EFT, Venmo, Zelle, or a bank check subject to clearance. Check my feedback here and on Audiogon. (Rooze)

You are most welcome to audition them, and that is certainly my preference. Though my speakers are not an ideal match at 89dB / 4 ohm, they still sound incredible playing at sensible volume.

Price is fair and firm. I won’t respond to lowball offers. If you want the 10 EML XLS tubes alongside the Gold Lion, and you can audition/collect in person, then I’ll give you a $1000 discount – $9,500 all-in. Otherwise, if you want the premium tubes and you’d like to arrange transportation, then the price would be $10,500 or $6995 without the premium tubes.

There was another pair of A-6000’s listed recently that sold for around $16,000 and they were lacking the upgrades and the premium tube options of my pair.

These are end game amps and will provide a lifetime of pleasure for any owner. My listening sessions are so short and infrequent these days that it makes no sense for me to be so heavily invested in tubes. Hence the move to less efficient speakers and a Class D amp.
