I was sad to read today that Bob Carver Corp (Bob Carver Corp website) has closed its doors on new product production as of April 24th, 2024.

There’s a recap of events leading to the company closure on one of the Carver forums, but the main thing to be taken away here is that the controversy surrounding Bob’s old 275 power amp that appeared on the ASR forum/website, pretty much sounded the death knell for this new start-up company. The timing was unfortunate – two months after the announcement of the new Bob Carver Corp came the dumpster fire over on ASR. It would have taken some marketing and PR genius for the new company to successfully distance itself from the sins of the past. And let’s be clear: as far as I can tell, Jim Clark and his partner/wife Lerma, were in no way responsible for the misrepresentation of specifications of the 275 amp that led to the debacle on ASR.

Quote from Jim Clark:

BC Audio customers will be contacted directly with my private info for service and support of our products. There are not many of you and most are friends. The Carver products produced before Feb 2022 are not my responsibility. Information for service on products before my time here, will be provided on the landing page that will be posted on the Bob Carver website.

I’ve been a fan of Bob Carver for three decades and I’ve a sense that this could be the end of the road for Carver, as far as any new products emerging under the Carver – I do hope I’m wrong.

All the very best to Bob and Peggy and Jim and Lerma.
